I’m just back from a 16 day Europe river cruise 6/30 - 7/16 , caught a cold bug there day before leaving, by Saturday 7/19 it became bad.
Urgent care Sunday confirmed I have bronchitis, on meds now.
Comparing my sleep 7/20 to 7/21.

7/20 shows 6hr 12 min sleep, but in reality zero sleep. I was not in bed, but recliner, constantly going to sink to cough up uck . Zero REM.
Totally exhausted Sunday.

Fortunately the meds kicked in and got more sleep, with REM
7/21 Shows 6hr 58 min. But much “more” than 7/20 .

Seems like there’s something missing.
Time asleep is a metric, not the only one, nor the best.
Like a “quality of sleep index” perhaps

Example: in say X hours of total core sleep, with y hrs of REM and Z hrs of deep sleep, you are B on sleep index scale.

Does that exist somewhere?
Surely some sleep institute correlated that data, and could supply it to Apple .

Sidebar: these meds have kicked in, I’m slowly feeling better.

Hey man, I had a nasty cold back in April, and my Apple Watch’s vitals app got wonky because of it. The sleep tracking data showed a lot of awake cycles, man.

I’m pretty sure you saw this thread about Apple Watch wearers’ sleep tracking, but there’s a lot of useful information from people who have sleeping problems while tracking it with their Apple Watch: https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...d.2449244/page-11?post=34023018#post-34023018

By the way, what Apple Watch do you wear, and has it automatically tracked your sleep if you slept in? My Series 6 did since watchOS 11.

I’ve been using AutoSleep for years. It has many features that I do not use but it does measure sleep quality. Check that app out.
