I downloaded and am running 3.0 but i dont even see any options of sending photos in text...all i see is when i click on share photo, i can click email. Will this require another update to us when ATT is ready?

ATT will just issue a carrier update... which just activates the MMS

1. The Messages application can have MMS enabled or disabled.
2. The carrier can have MMS enabled or disabled.

In the screenshot, obviously the Messages application had MMS enabled, but the carrier had MMS disabled. By default, 3.0 GM has MMS disabled and the carrier also has it disabled. When AT&T decides to turn on MMS, a carrier update will go out that will enable MMS in the Messages application. Right now, if you have the pre-release version of iTunes 8.2, you can modify your carrier bundle and apply it to your phone, thus enabling MMS in the Messages application, but it will be non-functional until AT&T or your carrier enables MMS.

to enable MMS AT&T will release a carrier update that physically allows you to place pictures and other files into messages. its sort of like 3.0 has this ability but the carrier update has to unlock it. think of it as quick time on a mac. to get some features you have to upgrade to pro. they are always there but pro enables them

i dont see the option to turn on MMS in the messages application.

Because you didn't read where he says you have to download the Carrier update file. If you download that file you can get it to work.

is there a way to get it? I have heard some people have MMS working. I always was under the impression that you could send MMS in 3.0 but they would just fail as ATT has a block on it right now (as the original photo on apple.com showed)
