No direct connection to the Internet. It just connects to the iPhone, which not only connects to the Internet, but does most of the processing work. The watch mostly just displays info sent from the iPhone.

So..... you have to have your phone nearby at all times? And what happens when you turn your phone off?

Certain functions work without the phone, like count steps, play music stored on the watch, etc, but a majority of the functions wouldn't work without the phone nearby.

I can deal with that. I like connecting stuff. Although the idea of being able to throw caution to the wind and go without a phone does seem nice.

The watch will directly connect to wifi in your house (not only through your iPhone) as they said you can be anywhere in your home and as long as your watch is on the same network as your iPhone you can answer calls / receive notifications.

I'm really thankful that they're adding wifi. I work in a 440,000sqft facility, and I don't always bring my phone with me when I run out to deal with tickets(we have wifi throughout). It'll be nice to be roaming around and still see important emails and Jabber messages when they come in, instead of when I get back to the Batcave to look at my computer/phone.
