Hey guys,
We are considering using Time Machine to backup all 40-50 staff MacBooks/Macbook Pro's onto a single network location (2TB should be enough, from rough calculations, but we may go more) - either with a NAS, OR a USB/FireWire External Hard-Disk connected to one of our XServe's and shared.
I've heard that while the time machine is good at handling deleting old backups for one client when the backup disk is full, it panics when there are multiple computers backing up to the one backup disk, and does not evenly delete old backups for each client.
For potentially 40-50 clients, this could cause huge problems - but I'm wondering if anyone can clarify this? Does anyone use time machine at a level this big and have any issues?
We may even go as far as using windows 7 backup to backup to the same network location. It works similarly to time machine. However, if this will cause issues, that's not so much a problem for me. We could just use a second external drive for Windows backups.
Kind Regards,
Rhys Andrews
