When purchasing a new iPhone outright and using the trade in your old iPhone option, do you pay taxes on the full purchase amount or the price after trade in?

Trade in value in Canada for a 256GB iPhone 11 Pro is $570. Tax difference in Ontario if taxes applied after trade in value is $75, which can go toward a case and screen protector.

Thanks for anyone with experience with this.

You are charged the taxes on the full value of the phone. The trade-in is a post tax method of payment.

Thanks for the response. Confusing because Apple shows two what seems to be different sets of info to me.

Yeah it’s worded poorly but taxes paid on the full value of the device

But then in the second pic, it says $969 after trade-in received. I wonder if this only applies if you use PayBright for their monthly instalments.
