I'm wondering how easy it is to damage the iPhone 30-pin connector port. Have you ever bent any of the small pins in the port? Has the port come loose over time?

How easy it is to damage the iPhone 30-pin connector port?

The only problem I ever had was dust getting in there. One time on my iPhone 3G, I couldn't plug the charger in all the way because it was getting stuck on something. I used an exacto knife to carefully scrape out a layer of dust that had accumulated (presumably from keeping it in my pocket all the time), and it worked fine after that.

Hmm, maybe it's like they used the 30-pin connector for iPods before the phone even came out. Like somehow all my old iPod cables fit into it... Weird how that happens, but you're probably right, it didn't exist before 2007.
The Apple 30-pin connector is about to have its 8th birthday next month:

I first owned one when I got an iPod Mini 7 years ago. In that time I've owned 8 Apple devices that have that port. I still own every single one and they all still work perfectly.
