I am about to buy a 13" MBP and want a SSD. The 128GB is cheaper pro rata than the 256GB. 128GB would do me fine for now, but how easy would it be to buy and upgrade to a larger SSD a year or so down the line, and would it be significantly cheaper to make it worthwhile? Quick response much appreciated, as I need to order. Thanks!

Honestly, I just bought mine 3 weeks ago, that being my MBP 13", I don't think the SSD is worth it right now because of the price, I want one no doubt, but at the price they are going for right now, I will wait. Also don;t forget the write speed on the SSD's are slower then your regular HDD.

It's about time you forgot it.

I could probably update the hard drive to ssd with my eyes closed. Pretty much the easiest upgrade there is.

You need to do your research buddy.. That is absolutely not true.

It depends on the drive and the type of writing. On the earlier JMicron controller MLC drives, he is correct that random writes are atrociously slow. The new Intel SSDs and newer Indilinx controllers fix this problem though :apple:

What's the easiest way to do this on a 13" uMBP? I saw instructions once, but I'm kind of nervous about doing it on mine since I am new to it.

Will the new Intel X-25Ms be easy to install? (Specifically the 80GB.)
