Well since we all know that Android devices have all the new features and have for a couple years...so they aren't "new". But that's how Apple always does things with product hardware/software updates, however Apple nerds, and rightfully so, appreciate the time and energy they put toward design, adaptability and ease of use. But what cracks me up is how Apple nerds get googly-eyed over these features like they've never existed until Apple decided to catch-up to competitors...just always cracks me up. Don't get me wrong, iPhones streamline these features into a much more user-friendly way, but just rewatch the announcement event and watch media and other invities get a little too excited...or is it just relief that Apple finally caught up and they give a standing O as a positive reinforcement to Tim Cook et al for joining the rest of the world.

Wanna know why I get "googley-eyed"? Because the only smartphones I've ever been with have been iPhones. Spec sheets? Who needs 'em when my iPhone works spectacularly, even having a better longevity than the opposition in most cases. But there's this and that feature and I'm missing out? Am I? Am I really missing out on doing spreadsheets while youtubing kittens at the same time? Nope.

I've been very happy with what I've had and never experienced those other functions until APPLE brought them to the table which is why I go ape ****. They'll get there when they do.

I hear ya...just my excitement is almost 100%..."finally", not "wow we've never seen that before!" Just want Apple to get ahead of the curve.

Ah I get you. Yeah that's ridiculous to think it's never existed before though. To make something entirely new and original these days is few and far between. I don't feel that relief. I'm just enthusiastic about the progress. When there's barely a stutter of progress with a release, I don't buy it. That's usually the case. We can't be pissed how others minds work. Just be happy you can rely on a company and their product to give you a continually reliable service you can stay with again and again.

Things move forward, they always do. Apple just take their time doing it.

My reaction really isn't "finally" because where I live NFC is useless atm. The screen size will be appreciated though.

To me, the screen size is more than just a run of the mill feature. "Life-changing" is over the top, but it really does change how you use your device, what devices you need/want to take with you, what kinds of things you can do with it, and how efficiently you can do them.

Big screen! That's it.

I've been without the iPad for 8/9 months since I gave it away and was waiting for a phablet to replace it - that meant no eBooks in bed, camping, lazing around the couch etc

Since then I've missed out on loads of great reads.. sounds sad, but I love my sci-fi and fantasy and its been a good year for it

And no, I won't be buying wasteful paper books in 2014 before anyone suggests it.

This excited!

I wish I could summarize how pissed I get when textbooks or reference materials aren't available in a digital format. I have to lug this heavy geology textbook around because damn Oxford can't get with the now and make it digital. The f&@&! There are benefits to having a printed version, like he more natural fast flipping of pages when hunting for something. But not increasing the weight of my backpack and allowing me to carry so much more material more than makes up for it.

This year I'm excited about the camera enhancements in the plus.

I like street photography, urban art photography and abstracts so the ability to control exposure from the native photo app is big form a long with optical stabilisation, enhanced tone mapping and metering, more built in filters (thanks to ios8) and phase detection autofocus. I've transitioned from dslr to mirror less to almost all Iphone photography now. 6+ might make it 100% use

So a mix of hardware and software.

I don't get too excited about iPhone launches. In my opinion the iPhone is the best phone out there for all use cases. They don't do anything radical and that is what I like about iPhone. No gimmicky new tech stuff that you can't use, they wait until they user experience is at an acceptable level.

Samsung have had NFC for nearly 3 years yet nothing much you can do with it. I'm not a fan of piling new semi useless tech into hardware just to make it stand out.

The main reason I am upgrading is for the camera improvements. I think my 4s takes pretty crappy pictures, especially in low-light situations with moving subjects. Didn't want anything as large as the Plus so I'm hoping that OIS isn't that much of a difference (not happy with Apple not including it on the non-Plus). Based on the reviews I have seen on the photos on the 5s and the 6 being an improvement on that, I should be pretty happy with the photos on the 6.

I Kearny the advantages if a big screen when I got a Nexus 4. Wouldn't get an iPhone 6 if it had a 4" display.
