I know everyone is talking about March 7th and the hype on the social media sites and forums seems insatiable.

However, as far as I am aware, Apple have not officially announced that there is an event on 7th March yet.

Quick question for those in the know, how far in advance of the actual event do Apple typically issue official invitations?

After all, we're only just over a week away now!

I was looking through the Archives on MacRumors for this info just yesterday.

For the iPad 2, Apple issued invites on Feb 23. The announcement being March 2.
For the iPhone4S, invites issued Sep 27. The announcement being Oct 4.

iPhone4 was WWDC wasn't it? And iPad 1 was MacWorld (was it?), so the above 2 are the only stand along big events I can think of. - Both of them being a week.

We should see invites possibly, Feb 29? March 1?

I'd expect the invite on Wednesday giving attendees a week to arrange for travel and to drown out whatever is coming out of Barcelona.

Yeah judging by the invitation history, its always exactly one week before the announcement. The invites will go out february 29th for sure.

Invites for previous events have been as late as a few days away (Macbook 2008 event was 4 days, for example), to as late as a week away.

So basically, if the 7th is the actual date, then we should see invites as soon as Wednesday, to as late as Friday or Saturday.
