In my further ponderings on storage, I've run into yet more questions that Google has been unable to reveal the answers to (this is all mostly in the context of using Davinci Resolve).
1) How fast do you need your cache drive to be, to keep up with the maximum possible speed your computer can render those cache files out?
2) Which video formats (for cache files) are fastest overall? Does going to uncompressed video with your cache files offer any speed advantages over the computer having to encode something into Prores/DNxHD/h264? Would it makes things faster (assuming you have storage that's fast enough to keep up with the high datarates of uncompressed video)?
3) With newer machines including hardware h264/h265 encoding/decoding, is it better to use those for cache files (speed-wise)?
I'd appreciate any wisdom anyone can offer.
Cheers
