How do you tell how fast your phone is charging (i.e. @ 12w, or 15w)? Is there an app that tells you? Thanks.

I’ve been using the Magsafe and found that it’s faster than the Apple 12W iPad charger that I use to charge my phone overnight

I have it plugged into a multi port charger, I just want to see if I’m getting full speed or not.

You’re suppose to use the Apple branded 20w charger

To be clear, I’m comparing the 15w power delivery from Magsafe with the 20w USB-C PD charger is faster charging than the old iPad 12 W wired charger. BTW, the Magsafe does not function with non-PD USB-A charger such as the old iPad 12 W charger

Try Watts Lite...

Give it a few tests though, as it may not be reliable with one result.

Right to get the best out of charging with MagSafe you need to use the Apple 20w and USB-C combo. Plus that’s why they included a USB-C cable.

As already mentioned the only options that will give you the full potential of the MagSafe is the official Apple 20W charger.
That is a common misconception which simply isn't true:

I have the same charger as the guy in the video (third from left)... and I have used my personal USB-C tester and confirmed it does draw the full power as expected.

How fast would an iPhone charge on a future MagSafe car mount? Still 15W?

Depends on the MFi certification of the accessory. At the minimum, they can release a car magsafe charger somewhere between 7.5W to the 15W max. We already know the Magsafe Duo can only provide 11W or 14W max compared to the regular Magsafe (with 20W PD charger)
