I'm going to put a larger SSD into my MB7,1 and thought I might look at using OCLP to get either Big Sur or Monterey onto it.

Mine only has 4GB of RAM so I'm curious to see if anyone else with 4GB of RAM and running OCLP can shed some light on performance with web browsing.

Not having Metal is one factor that could get in the way of usability. Big Sur and newer are way more reliant on Metal than Catalina and some of the patches and fixes you can apply (such as beta blur) to make it look better have a big impact on performance. I’d recommend at least upgrading it to 8 gigs of course, since 4gb means your Macbook will be swapping a lot of memory, especially when web browsing.

I saw in the other thread that you got 11.6 running. Congrats. I was wanting to go past 10.13 on mine but its configured in a Raid 0 and I never had any luck with APFS and booting from Raid. I can't live without the speed tho.

Yeah, I've only ever used a storage RAID array so I find the speed fine on 11.6 but getting 8GB+ of RAM for it is must.

I would concur. Mine has 16GB and a 1TB setup from 2 512 SSD's. It does run 10.13 quite well, I've had Mojave on it before but that was when Mojave was still getting updates and I got tired of doing the cloning thing to get it updated.
