Hello. I wanted to ask a question about the iPhone 5's focus. I have one, and I tried to focus on a close thing 5 minutes ago (tried to take a good clear picture of the new Lightning plug), and I noticed it's always focusing and then, back to blury... This is the best I could get:

Is it okay? Supposed to be like that? Doesn't it suppose to be clear if I tap to focus on something, especially if it's takes most of the frame? If not, is there a problem with my camera? What can I do?

Note: I already tried to, like, clean it up with this sunglasses fabric...

I got the same thing. It's normal for something that close to the lens to appear blurry. It's when things are blurry in the distance of your photos, as my first iPhone 5 was, that you have a problem.

Hrm, I can focus my lens really close in. Maybe I have the exception, but it can't hurt to see the genius bar can it?!

I have been disappointed in the macro ability of the iPhone since the 4S. The 4 was pretty good though.

So one says its basicly fine but another says that it's not.. Do I have a problem? What shoul I do with this?

If I try to get to close and focus on something it has a problem. I just back up a little, and it works.

For instance I was going to list up a smart cover for sale on eBay the other day, and I wanted to get a picture of the writing on the inside of the cover. When i tried to focus on it, It would focus in when I tapped the screen, and then would go blurry before I could take the picture. so I back off a little, and then when I tapped the screen it focused just fine. So I zoomed in a little so I had a picture of just what I wanted and took the pic.

So for me anyways It has to do with proximity to what I'm focusing on.

2" in good light is about as close as you can get.

I agree, the 4S had much better focal ability.
