I'm looking at a laptop for college and based on what I'd use it for(office, aperture, browsing, apps, skype, etc) I don't think I can justify getting the RMBP. I would probably get the base 13" Air but add 8 GB of RAM. Overall, how would you rate it as a machine?

I rate it seven sombreros!

The 13" MBA with 8GB RAM will be perfect for dominating college. I purchased one just last year to finish off my final year of classes and it was perfect, I never felt I needed the MBP. There is an iMac sitting on my desk though...still the MBA does everything on that list.

Random, but I'm in MN as well :D

I think I'm going to go w/ the 13" MBA. How is the battery life?

Even the Air is completely overkill for what you'd use it for, but that just means you'll enjoy it much more!

It's a great machine and I'm envious of current and future 2012 MBA owners. My 2011 is soOoOo last year

You're probably right, but you never know, maybe I'll find some fun new programs. I'm currently on a PC.

More than enough. running all that + eclipse on the base 13" model.

Hey, Minnesota! I'm moving there this year.

Anyway, the 2012 would be an awesome machine for what the OP describes.
