First of all, to all of you, I have used this website for about 1 year since I bought my first apple product (20" imac) since my Apple IIe from the 80s ( :apple: :D ) and have GREATLY appreciated every tidbit of information I have gleaned (video info (FCE), how to upgrade my ram myself (4 gb = good), gaming (free and otherwise), using VM Fusion, assorted tweaks, etc.

Anyway, I work for a University and they are having the following deal and was curious to see what your thoughts were:

MacBook Pro -
All MacBook Pros include built-in Airport Extreme (802.11n), Bluetooth 2.1, and Gigabit Ethernet. Built-in iSight Camera, and Lithium-polymer battery. One Firewire 400 port, one FireWire 800 port, two USB 2.0 ports, ExpressCard/34 slot, Dual-link DVI, and DVI to VGA adapter. Full-size backlit keyboard with ambient light sensor and Multi-Touch trackpad. Included software: Mac OS X Leopard, iLife ‘08, Front Row, & Photo Booth.
15.4-inch Matte TFT LED Display (1440 x 900), 1” thick, 5.4 lbs
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - 2GB (2 x 1GB) up to 4GB / 200GB Serial ATA HD (5400 rpm)

Thanks in advance!

Yes

like everyone has said, that is an amazing deal
...if you're comfortable using the previous gen

which university do you work for btw?

That's a good deal, with all of the saved money I suggest buying AppleCare.

ChrisN

An excellent deal, go for it, and, in common with ChrisN, I'd strongly recommend that you buy Applecare; if money is a bit of a problem, you can wait until your first year of ownership is up (but not a second longer) and then buy it.

Cheers and good luck
