I've never owned a MacBook, and I know the new ones are coming out.

I found a guy on Craigslist selling a MBA in good condition.

It's the 1.7 i5 4 gigs of ram and 256 gig SSD
He is also giving me a Magic Mouse.

Asking price is $1,200.

Also, if I don't buy this one, I'd be buying a low end 13" refurbished MBP which is 1,019 and just over 1,100 after taxes.

It's $399 below the retail price and even below the refurbished price.
You might want to ask whether it's still under warranty so you can extend it using AppleCare if you want to.

The improvements the new models are going to bring aren't that big of a deal, so this offer is worth the consideration.

If I didn't already have one I'd probably investigate the offer myself. The price is good, and if it is still under its first year of AppleCare you can extend it and have a solid machine for years to come.

Would necessarily is AppleCare? Cause I'll considering getting it.
I've never bought it for any of my iMacs/iPhones/iPads /etc.
But I've always bought them new.

I have a feeling this will end up with no MacBook air and another "too good to be true" situation.

Good luck anyway.

I buy the AppleCare in the 11th month of the initial year. That way I can defer the cost for a while (not that it's that substantial). I rely on my computers for my job very heavily, so I need them to be protected. I'd rather spend $150 bucks more and have the piece of mind for another two years than to have the logic board burn out on the 366th day.

So, stolen or just "borrowed"? :)
