Does anyone know how hard/easy it is to replace?
 
Screw it... keep it like that.

In terms of resale value... the amount it's lowered by is probably less than the amount to fix it.
 
I agree, I will probably leave it like that.

$89 for the housing isn't too much though and I'm curious how hard it is to replace. All I have done before is build in hard drives etc.
 
How did you manage to do that?

I did a quick search and I don't think it would be that hard to replace it, youtube has a couple videos of older models and heres a teardown of the unibody model. I would imagine you could ignore totally taking it apart like the motherboard etc http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/MacBook-Pro-15-Inch-Unibody-Teardown/590/1

I couldn't find a video for the top half but maybe the screen replacement videos will give you an idea of what you need to do.
 
I didn't do it. I bought it from someone else for a nice price.
