Ever since the iPhone XS, I've had very small micro scratches in the screen. Never happened before through all previous iPhone versions. Read here that Apple softened the glass to make it more shatter proof, but less scratch resistant.

How is the glass on the iPhone 12 Pro? Same lower scratch resistance? Or better?

Drop resistance is no question it’s tough. But I have yet to hear of members reporting scratches. My xs has so many scratches many my fault, I slapped a full screen protector even before I turned my 12max on when I opened the package.

Picked up my phone today but screen protector not coming for a couple of days. Will pocket use on the 12 Pro Max be an issue with out one? I'm unsure whether I will keep the phone yet so concerned that if I get some scratches on the screen I won't be able to return to Apple should that be the route I go down.

Should be fine. As long as your pockets don’t have anything In them that will scratch the screen.
