I know its a difficult question to answer but has anyone recently purchased/replaced their iphone 5 and got one with 6.1.2 or below?

I sold my iphone 5 thinking the new Galaxy S4 would be awesome...well after a couple days of use i dont like it and want to go back to iphone.

got two replacement, both was production date 2013 april and with 6.1.3 :/
for me best one was 6.0.2, didnt have problems with cellular data :/

I have read of many replacements being 6.1.2 within the last couple of weeks. In fact, most people (who care to post about it) seem to be getting the 6.1.2 still. Really the best advice I think ANYONE can give is to try and go to a low volume Apple store. It stands to reason that the higher the volume, the higher the chances that 6.1.2 is no longer stocked. Essentially, once they are out, they are out, and not getting more.

I just bought an unlocked iphone 5 from Apple in the Staten Island mall yesterday and it came with 6.1.2

There was another thread not too long ago dealing with the same thing. I never thought old software would be on new phones but it turns out I'm wrong. I'm sure it's hard to get depending on where you live, but theres definitely a possibility of getting 6.1.2 still.

All new phones will have AWS, not just T-mobile phones. T-mobile will sell phones at $70 discount but locked until the phone is paid off.
Nope, those are only for unlocked phones or T-mobile plans. I'm on an AT&T contract just glad I can throw my jailbreak tweaks on here.

But $70 is a hassle saving...say your phone isnt paid off and you want to travel....well your out of luck...that $70 you save...might as well pay it to get one thats actually usable.

I never sell my old phones. I still have 2 of our older BB Bold and Curve. I just do a SIM swap when I travel and I can have UMA. For my main phone I use local SIM. For example right at the airports in China, one can buy a SIM card for $20 no data $40 with data.
