I'm loving my new MBP, and it's running great. I'm just wondering how hot is too hot.

The machine seems to run at a great temp, but I have SMC Fan Control, and I'm wondering what temperature you guys would think is too hot. I'd like to set a maximum for SMC Fan Control, but I really don't know what temperature to set it at.

Suggestions?

I don't like to see mine get above 65C unless I am doing video encoding or other intensive tasks that I know will be done fairly shortly. I try to keep my temp in the low 50s.

temps of around high 90s are damaging to your cpu core.
Temps of 80C are pretty normal when under full load.
Otherwise, when not in super use, under 50C is the sweet spot

wow. Those are some tight standards. Mine is normally around 64-65c under normal use. That's with Camino, aMsn, iTunes, Transmission (torrent client), a Text Edit window i use a notepad open.

hey, i've been wondering the same thing
but im in the US so i use Fahrenheit so can anyone provide me these numbers so that i know how hot is too hot? cuz mine gets up to like 140-160 doing just simple web browsing, IMing, and running iTunes
