Simple question, just looking to see if mine is running way too hot. That way I'll know if I should return it this weekend.

Thanks!

Is that a new thing? I don't seem to be able to find how hot my ApC is.

Oh, sorry, you need iStat Pro for your dashboard. That widget tells you all your temperatures in addition to other useful statistics. Go get it!

Something tells me you're worrying about nothing.

Perhaps, but I don't want my AirPort card burning up needlessly and making the bottom of my laptop hotter than it should be.

Speaking of which, that is where the Airport card is, right? Near the Esc. key?

I do have it as well. All I see is 2 cores, 2 heatsinks, bottom of enclosure, and hard disk temp.

Hmm, that's odd. Maybe only on the SR Macbooks with Leopard can you tell the airport temperature? I don't know.

Mines at 44 Degrees and it's been on for about an hour downloading things.

See, mine would be at about 65-70 if I were doing that. Even if the fan were turned on to like 4500 RPM, the Airport card would still be blazing.

Do you think I should take it to the Apple store? I'm still within the 14 day replacement period, so, maybe this isn't such a bad idea.

mine is now 65c after on for a while. I really dont think you have a problem. This is the same temp as my airport card is in my MBP as well.

Mine is 49 degrees at the moment but i am just doing simple browsing, if I run Azureus then it can get pretty hot like 65+

That's the hottest part of my macbook. Is it just poor ventilation in that region, or is this a common problem for a lot of people?

The only fan in the MacBook is around the 6,7 and Y keys, which sucks the heat off the processor and north bridge via a copper heatsink. The other components apparently aren't deemed hot enough to warrant a fan to cool them. If you reckon your AirPort card is really that hot, take it back and get a pro to have a look at it. My MacBook gets slightly warm there, but its only a few degrees warmer than room temperature.

i got a pre SR macbook, and its known to get hot around the 1,2,q keys. its never really too hot, and it keeps me warm in the winter..

didn't but most of the time i'm wired in. even when i'm using wireless, its not hot enough to warrant any worry. (by touch, that is)
