iPhone 11 How I double tap home button on iPhone 11?

Today gave my son my pristine (still original screen cover on...) iPhone 8+ to replace his 7+ (which I took very good care of as well as the 6+ 5 etc which he broke one after the other...), I switched to an 11 which I got as a present last summer (yep, kept it in a drawer waiting for xmas), very easy to transfer informations between old and new one, long but easy but now, how do I double tap the home key to switch from an app to another or to swipe as to close unwanted apps?

Slowly swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause without letting go. If you have any apps open, the app launcher will now show you which ones and allow you to access or close the app.
