First, let me start off by saying I am someone who did not have a battery drain issue. Since launch day, I have been averaging 6-8 hrs of usage and almost 1 day of standby.
However, my Siri became unresponsive the other day, and had to do a full restore in order to gain Siri usability again. That worked, and my phone was functioning properly until today.
Today, I began to notice lag in its usability...and it was bothering me quite a bit. I made sure background apps were killed, and no activity was using RAM so why the lag?
Well, I was able to restore the snappiness and zip I noticed the first time I used the phone out of the box by doing 1 thing. I disabled iCloud contacts syncing, and then chose to delete all the contacts off my iPhone. Then I synced my phone to iTunes (old technique) and enabled address book/contact syncing, and my contacts were right back on the phone. Then I did a hard reset, and my phone is functioning so fast, Siri is popping up instantly and answering within a second, instead of loading for 3-4 secs.
Also, for the skeptics, I initially tried a hard reset to see if that would just return my phone to the functionality I had previously, and it did not. So, removing my iCloud contact sync, deleting them, and using the contact list I had saved on my Macbook Pro has returned my iPhone back to its fast and quick ways, and also has improved many issues I was noticing.
Perhaps the iCloud contact syncing is corrupting my contacts and slowing my phone, I don't know, I am not a software engineer...but this fixed my issue, and hopefully it will help someone.
PS. I hope Apple really focuses on iCloud and fixes it, because I have a feeling that there is so major errors and glitches in its syncing functions that is a major reason for the battery drains, but until then, this can help some people address some issues.
