I just purchased a TP-Link Archer C7 because my new wireless printer doesn't support the 5 GHz band and my router doesn't broadcast both bands at once. The router is stable (that's why always buy TP-Link), but my MBP would take 30 seconds to connect (AC 5 GHz) every time I opened it up. I changed my region to the US on my router and my MBP (probably illegal) and used channel 149 (not available in Poland). Voila - my MBP now instantly connects when I wake it up.

This solution relates to my old router - the Ubee EVW3226. After I upgraded to OS X 10.10.2 my MBP would take a little longer to connect in comparison to when I was using OS X 10.10.1. I disable auto-channel select and everything functioned as it did before.

Hope this helps you out. I know a lot of people have been complaining about the WiFi...
