Hey, I've just fixed the brightness issue on my macbook, and I think someone might find this helpful.

My macbook wasn't saving the brightness settings a few days ago, so it keeps set the display to the brightest after each reboot. It's not a huge deal, but kinda annoying.
Today I was doing maintance through disk utility, and that app told me the main drive failed to verify and needs to be repaired using the disk utitlity on the install DVD. I did what I am told, and pleasingly found the brightness issue is solved after the main partition is repaired.

I think I read somewhere in this forum that someone's ibook kept on muting the right side speaker and someone's iMac is not remembering a certain setting. I hope my case can provide a hint.

BTW, Macbook rocks!
