How I repaired my Macbook 12 2017 keyboard's shift key

I bought a used macbook 12 and the shift key was not activating unless i press down hard dead center.

I used a guitar pick and pried open the top 4 clips and put 3(?) layers of masking tape over the center (not shown), now it works (a bit mushy)
