I finally plugged in and fired up my brand new and shiny Mac Studio today... chime... only to be disappointed when the display remained blank. I couldn't find a solution online, but I knew the HDMI cable was working because I used it with a laptop and TV. From reading posts, I suspected the problem was an HDMI connection issue with the Studio and was planning to purchase a USB C adapter.

Then I started looking into how to connect one monitor to two computers. It turns out that my monitor has a Source Control setting which was set to DVI-D. Duh! It's been years since I connected it to the Mac Pro and I just forgot. Perhaps my memory is not rock solid anymore. ;) The setting for your monitor might be called something else. I have an HP ZR2440w which is from a family of zr2040w zr2240w zr2440w zr2740w models.

Well, I'm so glad I don't have to wait for an unnecessary adapter to arrive and add clutter to my desk. Hope this helps someone else.
