How the heck do I buy this phone outright with out adding a plan?

I went to Verizon site and Apple, it keeps making me add a plan. I just want to buy the phone outright... how is this done, can it not be done on a pre order, and I have to wait until it is avail in the store?

I think you have to have a plan. I bought mine outright, but I wasn't ready for an upgrade so it was still through my account.

Yeah I do have a plan, have had Verizon for about 5 years. I just want to buy it outright but it kept asking me to add a plan when I ordered thru Apple and VZW dot com. Hmmmm

"Woke up early and tried to order around 330a NY time .. both the VZW and Apple websites did not have any option to carry over my unlimited data plan and required choosing one of the tiered plans. Decided I didn't want to risk choosing one and losing the unlimited data.

Anyway, got to the office around 7ish for an 8am meeting .. called Verizon and they took care of it. Confirmation email in my inbox for delivery of a black/slate 64gb by 21Sep12. "
