How is Apple shipping ? Fedex or UPS ?

Hello - I am thinking about getting a new macbook, maybe the new Air.....

One complication is that I need to have the order shipped to a friend, who lives far out of San Diego. UPS delivers to his place, Fedex does not and he would need to go 75 minutes one way to get it at a Fedex center.

So my question is - how does Apple ship these days new orders of rMPBs and Airs ? Fedex, UPS, or do they even mix it ?

And just in case - how do they ship refurbished items ?

I remember my delivery being from UPS.

To Toronto, Canada, it was FedEx for expedited and UPS for standard shipping.
