How is black on the new Macbook Pro's?

I've got a late 2008 Macbook Unibody and to be honest, the black color is horrible on its display. Whenever I watch a show and there's a night scene, it is almost impossible to see things clearly, even at max brightness and no sunlight in the room.

I remember that when I bought it, more people complained about it, but since I'm thinking of buying a new Macbook Pro (non-Retina) I'd like to know how well black is displayed on the newer models.
