How is Downcast on OS X?

There weren't many reviews on the Mac App Store page, and they weren't exactly flattering. In fairness, they weren't exactly in-depth either.

Any opinions from current users? I've seen the iOS version of the app tossed around, but not the OS X version.

If it is as problematic as everyone makes it out to be, what are some other alternatives that have iOS-OS X pairs?
