I am an owner of shuffle 2gen and I am not really happy with the sound quality at all, I ordered an engraved 4gen shuffle 2 days ago and waiting the delivery :)

I am quite curious and impatient about how it will perform overall when compared to other ipods ?

Due to the mobility and wear-ability factor I am always going for ipod shuffle. But this time i was in between ipod nano and shuffle, the new nano is looking really cool with small size, wear-ability, 8gb space, fm radio but the touchscreen factor demotivated me since it is not easy to use touchscreen when you are walking or moving..

4th gen is about equal as the 4th gen nano and classic, so its a lot better than the 2nd gen. 2nd generation is unbearable to listen to if you upgrade past the stock buds.
