Is there usually an event in Cupertino to prime the press?

If so. would that be when ship date is announced or when it actually ships?

Is Steve likely to lead such an event?

Just wondering if, with history as our guide, we might figure out when the next Apple event will be.

I've seen recent discussions here on this topic, do a search for them to see what was said.

I haven't and I don't. Thanks anyway. OS X Launch search turned up nothing.

They will most likely issue a press release stating when the launch date/time will be. On the launch date, they will have special events at all of the stores to introduce the OS, similar to the iPhone launch.

The Open Firmware/EFI thing is a geek-joke. Those are the technologies that allow your Mac to boot up (launch) whenever you turn it on. :)
