How is the battery on iOS 16? Can you guys post some battery charts with 13 or 13 pros running on iOS 16? I'm currently on 15.7.1 and curios how/if they improved the battery 🔋
Bellow is my 13 pro (90% health)

Ahhhhh, bummer I have an 11 Pro Max on 16.2 but that's not what you're asking for. :(

Wouldn't really help since most of the complaints I have read are from 13 series users. Thank you.

You're battery life is on par with my 14 pro on 16.2 lol. Mine is after 24hrs usage from 11 am to 11 am next day

You can easily monitor your battery's behavior by recording your ios15 usage shown on the battery monitor app in Settings, then install 16 and compare it with the 15's usage. You'll get an accurate personal comparison, not someone elses random estimate. 🍕🍰

How is the 11 Pro Max though? It was astonishing back on iOS 13, I was in awe back when it launched. How much has iOS 16 impacted it? Can you post a screenshot?

Battery is still solid on my old 11 Pro Max on iOS 16.2 @ 95% health.
Heck, the phone is still so good that when my dad cracked his 12 this spring, i gave him my old 11 Pro Max to use it until he gets a new one, but he said he'll keep it since its much better than the 12 and the battery is rock solid

Do you have any numbers? The best thing would be a “last 24 hours” screenshot. It’s not that I don’t believe you; however, expectations differ so much that I can’t get an idea from that. An iPhone Xʀ user on iOS 16 might tell me “I get 9 hours on light use and Wi-Fi on iOS 16, it’s amazing!”. I’d find 9 hours with that use pretty abhorrent, honestly. Just to give an example.

How many hours of screen-on time and with what usage do you consider solid on iOS 16? 8 hours? 10? 12? 17? That’s the reason why I always ask for screenshots, it’s impossible to have an idea of the impact without hard data.

Here’s my 13 on 16.2, starting at 9am yesterday, with moderate use all day. At midnight last night it was around 85% if I remember correctly, and then charged overnight. I don’t think there’s any discernable difference between now and when the device was on iOS 15. My battery health is at 99%.

I can't complain, it's been a good phone.

Some things to keep in mind concerning my 11 Pro Max though…

I bought mine brand new in February 2021. So, it's not exactly a 3+ year old phone. Second, I had it replaced (dropped the original) in May of 2022 so right now this phone isn't even eight months old yet. Third, the high level of activity you see in the night hours is because the phone is plugged in all night, unlocked and with the screen on. I run a clock app at night (bedside clock, it has a black background) and I've done that every night since my first smartphone in 2009.

No, i dont have any numbers. Its not my phone anymore and i’m not going to look into my father’s phone lol. He just said that the battery lasts 2 days and he’s supper happy. The only number i can give you is ~95% health; that was the percentage when i last owned the phone

I don't have numbers but I can tell zero difference between iOS 16 and iOS 15.

I don't use lockscreen widgets, if that makes any difference.

I can’t glean much from that, I need something more like post #5. Thank you, though, I appreciate it!

Okay, thanks! Yeah, battery health is completely irrelevant, I can’t do much with it. Thanks anyway!

Ah sorry. You need to see lower battery levels I guess?

I have yet to drop below 70% of battery with this phone and normally it's at around 85-90 percent when I plug it in at night. But I only use my phone as a phone (calls, texts, light email, some light web browsing). I've got computers, tvs, and other devices around me 24/7 for everything else.

Yeah, you’re like me, I don’t use my iPhone (XR, running iOS 12) much either. I’d need something with less standby, can’t get much of an idea with the beginning of your screenshot and it’s practically all standby. I’ve been asked for screenshots as well and I can’t share them because they’re full of standby so I relate, I typically use iPads. Like I said, I can get an idea from something like post #5: 9h of SOT 100-13% with moderate use. Add one hour for the first percentage point, about 11-12 hours. I don’t know the brightness levels, but if I had to guess, they were at about 50% (too few hours for very low brightness, I doubt it can get to 12 hours with full brightness; so, maybe 30-70%? I’m guessing, but I can get an idea like that).

I appreciate your efforts to help!

My 14 Pro actually seems much better on 16.2. I did change the AOD setting to no wallpaper.

Man, how have you managed to maintain 95% battery health on an 11 Pro Max?

I have a 12 Pro which I got Jan 2021 and it is at 87% battery health.

Keen to know what tips you have.

Charging daily from 40% to 80% using the old chargers (A1385 5W & A1400 5W) because they slow charge.

Fast charging and the heat that results from it will decrease the battery over time. And i’ve never let the phone reach 0% nor 100%.

Software wise, turned on optimized battery charging, turned off spam notifications (to reduce the screen wake), turned on auto brightness, turned off background app refresh for not relevant apps, low power mode turns on every night, turned off all system haptics and the phone is on silent 24/7 (i dont miss notifications because i’m wearing an apple watch that has haptics turned on).
Also, on my 13 Pro Max i’ve turned off 5G because I get only one bar of signal in my location (5G combined with low reception can decrease battery life) so i’m using 4G until the coverege gets better.
My 13 Pro Max is almost a year old and the battery has 99% health.

Crazy, right ? If you commit yourself you can have great battery life. Its a little bit annoying using slow charges but hey, you gotta loose some to win some lol

EDIT : i asked my father whats the current battery health percentage of his 11 Pro Max and its at 91%. I gave him that phone in April this year with 95% health, so thats a 5% drop in 1.5 years that i used the phone with those tips mentioned above. Comparing that with my father, who used the phone for 8 months with normal usage, fast chargers and has everything turned on we can see that the battery health dropped 4%.

So with tips, 5% drop in 18 months;
Normal usage, 4% drop in 8 months.

What is this way of using a phone ? you're supposed to use it after it's charged not when it's being charged
