The ngp is only a game system yet the ipad issopposed to be an all i. One entertainment device. So why cant apple, company rivher and more influential than sony, put better and fatter speca in tnhe ipad 2 than sony is in tne ngp? Read this:

http://toucharcade.com/2011/03/10/ipad-2-shows-impressive-graphics-benchmark-results/

"As gamers, we're quite anxious to see just how well Apple's new tablet can push the pixels and polygons with its A5 processor. This new system-on-a-chip features 512MB of RAM, two (dynamic-stepping) 1GHz CPU cores — ARM Cortex A9-based — and a new graphics subsystem, which*almost certainly utilizes at least one Imagination Technologies PowerVR SGX543 core, the same GPU used in Sony's upcoming NGP (in quad-core GPU configuration)."

And read this:
http://www.techradar.com/news/gaming/consoles/inside-the-sony-ngp-the-cpu-and-gpu-in-detail-924306

And sony has been having the hardware already ready and developing since 2008 so why couldnt app,e have at least put a dual core in the originslmipad and a quad core like the ngp thistime if sony could have done it (and are doing it in such a small screen devce)?

Without knowing the price of NGP, it's difficult to compare it to even iPad.

NGP has OLED screen with 3G support. I am expecting it to cost just as much as iPad, but it's a wild guess.

Sony competes more with nintendo rather apple ipad...

NGP will not be as expensive as an iPad. If it is more than £300 they are screwed. Even £300 is really pushing it. They need 3DS Level price.

The iPad 2 doesn't need to be as fast as a dedicated gaming device. The NGP is rumoured to have a 4 hour battery life. Noone would like that in a iPad.

According to latest rumors its only oingbto be $300 to $400. And i doubt tney will be going after the nintendo crowd at all but the hipster tech geek crowd that makes up the ipad 2 owners like our own Justin Wagoner. And the ipad 2 base model is $500 and thats even without 3g so how can apple hope to compete with it as an enetrtainment xonsumption devie if you cant get serious work done on the ipad since it shares theiphone os and no fodlers?

If nintendo and sony werent comoeting with apple why at the keynote did the big n president keep mentioning indirecttly apple? And why did the ipad 2 be unveiled by apple around the same scedule? They are all competing for at least the late teen early 20 guy demographic for their firsy buy. And why would a gamig system need more power than a laptop or netbook replacement? And if sony was only competing with nintendo why would they need all those specs to begin with?

Christ almighty...

Because the NGP isn't coming out until the christmas season? And I think that was stated as the Japan release, I don't think there's an official release date for the rest of the world.

By that time Apple will be finishing up the engineering on iPad 3. I wouldn't be surprised if the iPad 3 has a quad core processor and 1gb of RAM.

but does it has back touchpad?

Ok that makes sense only if the np is still being worked on. But most gamng systems are done months in advance of release dates and apple uogrades their spexs annually so you dont think apple is holding back hardware at all to have higjer profits than what they really could have put in the ipad 2?

The NGP is a dedicated gaming machine. The iPad is not. The iPad does not NEED that hardware because it does not exist simply to provide a bleeding-edge gaming experience.

This thread is pointless.

First, learn how to proofread.

Second, Nintendo and Sony may be competing with the iPad, but the iPad is definitely NOT competing with Nintendo and Sony. Apple scheduled its keynote on the day it wanted and chose a venue that was adequate to support it. It was just coincidence that another "major" keynote was being given nearby.

But it should have a bleeding dge surfing experience where u can use tabs and apps without tuff crashing.

There's a difference between being able to manufacture a handful of prototype units to develop on and test on and being able to turn out millions and millions of them at a marketable price. I'm sure that Apple can get a retina-display iPad size screen manufactured, and they probably have prototypes in the lab right now with quad core processors and retina displays. The problem is that these prototypes might cost thousands to make because the percentage of defective screens/processors would be pretty high. In a year those things will be ready for low cost mass production.
