How is the official Apple Lightning dock?

I've been thinking about picking one of these up so I can combine it with my Watch dock and have the ultimate Apple charging station on my nightstand, but it looks like it's literally just a connector on a dock, and it looks like it breaks easily when you have a phone on it. Any owners of the dock care to recommend or not recommend it? I have a 6 Plus, planning to get a 6S Plus which is even heavier.

The dock looks so uncomfortable to use. Everytime you put the phone on you have to make sure it lines up. That pretty much ruins it

I've tested them out in the store and found that the connector is far looser in the Lightning port than a normal lightning cable. You can wobble the phone around without feeling like you're putting too much pressure on it. I think this is because the base of the connector is rounded and not flat like the cable. It also feels easy to quickly place the phone on the dock without having trouble aligning it.
