My first jailbreak was Spirit, so I could tether mainly. I restored so I can upgrade to 4.0, hoping to use a newer jailbreak and tether with that instead. I have an iPhone 3G.

My question: will a jailbreak be ready, and will I still use the no rock version of that tethering app when it happens?

BTW, you dont need to restore to stock firmware to upgrade to 4.0 or any newer build.
You can upgrade a JB device to stock firmware at any time.
A JB for a 3G and 3GS will be ready shortly after 4.0 goes public.
About the new iphone 4 not sure but hope thats also comes quick

Are you talking about a pawnage tool JB? The newest redsn0w works to JB 4.0 on the 3G as long as baseband doesn't matter.

The pawnage tool is better though since you can build the firmware.
