I have quite a bit of Music on my iPod that is not in my iTunes library, and a lot of the songs in my library aren't formatted as nicely as the ones on my iPod (i.e., the album names, art, etc.). Is this media backup going to put all my music back on my iPod the way I had it?

I'd imagine that it would just sync it and make a backup record as it does now. If you use iTunes as it is designed to be used, everything would be in your library on your computer. If it's not, you could very well be out of luck. If it actually pulls everything off of the device, it would be a complete waste of time for most people. I'd just forgo the backup and re-sync my playlists.

If you really want to know, go ask on the iPhone forum. Many of them have used the back-door link to get the firmware already, so they've gone through the process.
