How is this multitasking/fast app switching supposed to work?

So I just bought that Eliminate:Gun Range app that I thought was supposed to be made for iOS4 so I tested it and hit the home button in mid game and then when i double click the home button and go back to the game, it starts it from the beginning menu again.
I thought the games were just supposed to pause and we can go back to where we left off.

The app has not been updated to support the features of multitasking yet. Developers will need to add this to their app and update it. They will not work automatically.

Ahh, I thought this was a brand new app that was made just for iOS4 and multitasking.

It might have been tested on iOS 4, but that doesn't mean multitasking features were added to it.

Went to the app page and it was made specifically for iOS4 requiring the gyro and retina display. Seems kind of stupid they wouldn't add the MT support to it right away.
