How likely is it? (custimization of iPhone 3G)

I know that you can use custom icons/wallpapers in jailbroken phones, but how likely is it that an "official" app would be able to do this? I'm a huge fan of customization on my electronics, and would love to be able to do this with the 2.0 update. Any clues?

I don't think is likely because to do that you need access to the system files witch official apps don't have so unless apple allow that I don't see any app like summerboard or customize coming
