iPad mini How long after announcementcan can I order?

I'm looking at getting the next iPad mini and am wondering about how long Apple generally takes before shipping the new iPad or if it is when the keynote is over?

If it's like the iPhone. The product could be announced Tuesday/Wednesday and then the pre-orders available on Friday.

With iPads if you wait a week after the mad frenzy you will be able to walk in to an Apple store pick the iPad of your choice in any color/ carrier/ capacity you want. If you like the lines, crashing websites on preorder and all the related bellyaching - go for launch day.
