Hey Guys,

I just updated to 2.0 to check it out and i got thinking, how long do you guys think it will be before we start seeing the apps in the app store, i.e super monkey ball and others that have to be paid for, appearing on torrent sites and the like, also is it actually possible that these could be installed on a touch or iphone?

thanks

Jake

Not going to happen, the Applications use the same DRM that iTunes songs use and no one has been able to crack that (aside from re-recording the song).

Not true. There used to be a program called "hymn" that cracked the itunes DRM. They're encrypted with a key that's stored somewhere in the ipod, so hymn simply grabbed the key from your ipod and decrypted the file.

Hymn no longer works AFAIK, but nothing's impossible.

When something like that happens Apple has 1 week to lock things down again or the music labels get to pull all the music off the store. If it ever happens again you'll get at most 1 week of free apps, then everything will be locked down again and your pirate apps will no longer work.

All my decrypted music still plays.
