Think of old TV's which alot of people have, The TVs outlast peoples desire to have them. As the above person stated, the display will outlast the computer most likely.
true but i guess my concern was more on bulb life if anything. the same logic apply though?
same thing. i would bet your display will out last you owning the computer.
Meaning: you will probably buy a new computer before your display goes!

CCFL backlights like in your 1st gen MacBook should last upwards of 5 years. The new LED backlights should see closer to 10.
In either case not something to really worry about.

i would bet it lasts longer than that.. Ive had many laptops and im always ready for a new one before the old laptop is ready to die!
And honestly in 5 years im sure you will be looking at a new computer!
Um, I said "upwards of 5 years", not "up to 5 years". That means at least 5 years, and most probably longer.
