looking at a medium-size store in a mall... roughly how long will it take per person to activate an iphone, so i have some time gauge. Is it one person at a time...or multiple at a time?

i've heard 15 minutes per customer...is that right?

Are you talking about from the time you get to a rep who will sell it/activate it?

Not including the time it took to stand in line (I got it launch day), it took about 10 minutes to verify my info, pay, get the phone, and get it activated.

Okay, yeah, about 10 minutes, and that was a little longer, because I had cash that I had to transfer to a gift card. That took about 2 of the 10 minutes. ;)

Oh, and I didn't answer your last question. Each rep serves one customer at a time.

I'm not sure if this is available in your country, but the US Apple site will allow you to pre-register and pre-qualify for the phone so you can just walk in with your number and pick it up.

Go to the Apple website and click on iPhone and see if you have the same sort of option. It might save you some time.

so if i see 8 people in line....thats roughly a 90 minute wait? jeez...thats long

No. There's more than one rep.

I see, you thought I meant one customer is served at a time. I meant each rep serves one customer at a time, but there are several reps there on regular days. With the iPhone selling like it is, there are more than usual.

What's more, if you drive out to the 'burbs, you won't even have to wait in line. We picked one up yesterday afternoon in about five minutes.

It took me 30 minutes from the time I walked in the store until I walked out.

But I was getting TWO iPhone 3GS, plus, I had to buy two gift cards because I was using American Express Gift Checks to purchase one of the phones.

So I would think 10-15 is a good estimate for a single person doing a single phone.

You have enough Apple stores that you can choose which one to go to? I'm jealous.

For some reason we have like, 3. In the entire Phoenix area. Which has multiple millions of people. I have no idea why.

It's better than when I lived in Colorado and there was "The Apple Store" in Denver and no where else, though. No wonder no one had a Mac in Fort Collins. :\

Would it be quicker to go online and reserve a "personal shopping appointment" at Apple? I've never done that myself so I'm not sure how it works.
