My computer crashed while itunes is updating my JAILBROKEN iphone 3G from 4.0 to 4.1, so I had to do a restore. After 8 hours and still not finished, I disconnected it. I don't have any valuable data on my iphone. How can I do a clean install of iOS (whatever version) ?

Edit: I'm with AT&T so its still locked?

It should take about an hour at the most. To restore the iPhone just plug in into iTunes and click the Restore button. Note: Don't do this if you have to have it unlocked.

A restore/update should take about 10-15 minutes.

Download an ipsw from iclarified.com, before you restore your iPhone put it in DFU mode first.

What other options do I have if it still won't finish restoring after several hours? I downloaded ipsw 4.1 and 3.1.3, will try both.

@PsstGreek Thanks I installed iTunes on a different PC and it works. Restore iOS 4.1 in 15 mins. Must be older iTunes on my PC is faulty.

Edit: I had Wi Fi Sync too.
