iPod touch How long does it take to get one?

I know this is going to be extremely hyped, especially if it comes with a camera and retina display. So, is it possible to walk into my Apple store the day it comes out and expect to get one? Can I pre-order one, and pick it up in-store on the day of release? Or can I only order online and have to wait two weeks for delivery? What's the best way to get it immediately? Any opinions? This will be my first time buying a product from Apple, and I can't wait any longer--I've gone my entire teenage life without a music device, and I will finally get one, and I need it as fast as possible!!

Well, it's most likely going to be on the Apple website for shipping on the first day, and will ship to your door in a few weeks. Most Apple stores get their shipments a few days after the announcement. Then other retailers get theirs a few weeks after.

Last year, when I set out to buy the iPod nano 5G, Best Buy had them a week after the announcment with all models in stock.
