How long have you been using an eSIM?

Apple has had eSIM support on the iPhone since the iPhone XS, so I’m curious how long you’ve been using an eSIM, if you’re using one at all.

The first time I used an eSIM was when I switched to a prepaid carrier that supported in back in Summer 2020 with my iPhone 11 Pro. Since then I’ve tried to only use eSIM as I find it much more convenient and versatile for my needs. 2 years later and I’m still eSIM exclusive.

I’m curious about MacRumors users. Have you already been using an eSIM? If your carrier doesn’t support eSIM, would you use it? If your carrier supports it but you don’t use it, how come?

Since last October with my 13Pro, now using it with my 14Pro, it’s nice not having to mess with a physical SIM card.

I converted from SIM to ESIM with my 13 Pro. Been using for almost a year - No issues and with AT&T it's very easy to download a new ESIM or transfer from one phone to another, at least in my experience.

I have an 11 Pro Max that I got in 2019 but converted to (AT&T) eSIM last year after my SIM card started getting flakey (I had to remove and insert it sometimes and the contacts were corroding).

This solved the problems and I've been on eSIM ever since. Still using my 11PM another year most likely.

Since a week before I got my 14 Pro Max as I wanted to switch over to it, I’m in the UK so I wasn’t forced however, I presume we will be come this time next year so wanted to make the switch now before the max rush for esims lol

I've gotten all those and 13PM was the first time it didn't come with a physical SIM. Haven't had any issues with the eSIM on it at all though

Since XS Max. I like to keep the physical sim free for international travel while eSIM is for home carrier. Hopefully they keep the physical sim on the iPhone 15 in Canada.

I used eSim for my primary [t-mobile] line in both my 12 Pro and 13 Pro... I had a Verizon prepaid sim card in my sim card slot for backup in t-mobile dead spots (which are very few nowadays), and planned that i would switch it with a foreign sim card when I travel international ... but because of covid I didn't end up traveling international very much.
