Just throwing this out there, b/c people are constantly getting new numbers. I've had the same number since 1993 when Cellular One was around, ported to Sprint, then ported to AT&T/Cingular (over 15 years with all three companies) and I'm wondering about the rest of you.

I was trying to think back, and I can't remember if I got my current number before or after I got to college. I know I had a cell phone in high school with Alltel, but changed to Sprint either my senior year of high school or my freshman year of college.

Either way, that puts me having my current Sprint phone number for 6-7 years. It's an easy number to remember so I'm reluctant to get rid of it, but at the same time there aren't that many people I talk to on the phone so it wouldn't be a big hassle to get my new number to those people, and a fresh new phone on a new carrier would be complete with a fresh new number... (plus I'm not looking forward to spending $175 or whatever it is for the early termination fee)

2 weeks and 5 days!!!

I must get the award for the shortest time period...I have never had my own cell phone until now.

(Used my wife's phone when I needed one and here in the NH mountains they don't even work too well anyway.)

Sure wish I could get an iPhone!!!

Had T-Mobile (1 year?), went to Sprint(i860 then i870, 2 years?) and changed numbers and now I have AT&T and a new number since June 29, 2007

4 years with O2 but i haven't ported ever. I'm well taken care of by O2. Go figure

A little over 10 years. Been around since the Cellular One days as well. My number is waaay too easy, so I'll never give it up! :D

I have had this same account with AT&T since 1999. PacBell Wireless to Cingular to AT&T. I moved in 2003 and changed my phone number since it was a different area code. When I moved back to San Diego a year and a half later I went back to 619 A/C. I would have selected the 9-10 had the poll regarded account and not phone number.

Totally by accident I got a great, easy-to-remember number when I got my first cell phone with Verizon about 4 years ago, so I plan on keeping it as long as I can.

Since 05 I think. I hope switching from Verizon to an iPhone 3G will go smoothly.

same, but it was 5 years ago for me...
theres only 4 different numbers in mine, and the first 2 are the standard "07" for UK mobile phone numbers

Had a clunky Nokia for 2 years in high school into the start of college. Then in Feb 2004 I signed my first contract with Cingular and got the Motorola v400, which was killer back then. Then got the Rokr E1, which was my pretend iPhone. Then they switched to AT&T, got the iPhone 8gb, and now about to get the iPhone 3g 16gb black. So I've had the same phone number for about 4 1/2 years.

Since my very first mobile - the Motorola Graphite :D

The picture really doesn't do the size justice :D

I assume you mean mobile number -- mine's been the same since my first mobile phone -- a Handspring Visorphone, precursor to the Treo, which I think came out in 2000. My land line has been the same since I moved to North Carolina in 1994.

I've had my number ever since I thought this was the sexiest phone ever made (8 years)

I've had my number ever since I moved back to Toronto (8 years). I kept it because I've come up with a fairly quick mnemonic way of giving out my number, which is handy when you bump into old friends on the street. That and I don't want to remember yet another number... I'm still getting used to my Condo's number (3 yrs).

I think alot of people switch their numbers when they are younger because you dont have a ton of contacts that have your information.

As you get older your contact list grows and the importance of having a stable number grows with it, especially in a business setting.
