i wont get my pac code from tmoby for 3 weeks

i could get one today - but it will cost me about 50 quid more to cancel my account than in 3 weeks time.

is there a time limit to apply a pac code on a newly signed up iphone?

Not too sure about this. I canceled my contract with T-Mobile on Friday and they gave me the PAC code whilst i was on the phone to them, they also sent it to me as an SMS. Contract will be fully canceled in 30 days.

yes they would cancel me today - but i have 2.5 months left on contract
im paying 37.50 a month - so they would charge me 102quid to cancel today
so ive switched to a 15 a month contract starting aug 5th - if i phone up on aug 5th and cancel it will only cost me 30 quid!

so ill save 70 quid waiting 3 weeks.

of course this now means i have no need to wait 3 weeks to buy the iPhone.

doh!

O2 told me i had to do it straight away, but that wasnt possible as the whole process of activation in store was a disaster, and only got a signal from them 36 hours later.

I went on the O2 website and it says they accept it within 28 days!

Not sure about porting it over at any time?

(orange give u 6 months to port a number).

They told be the PAC Code provided is available for 30 days, after this if its not been used i would need to ring them up again and get a new one.

It does say in the SMS tho if its not been used in those 30 days then my TM account will remain active.

tmobile

yeah, i had a good experience getting a pac code from Tmobile too. they were very helpful.

O2 are having issues setting peoples IPhones up still at the moment, some people are still unable to make calls 3days in, So it might be worth waiting anyway, see if their are any major bug issues etc. ;o)
