How long takes migration with Time machine thrugh USB?

I'm going to migrate old system on Time Machine with USB into new iMac retina. 2 questions: How long it might take to transfer 650GB, should I do it during installation or wait till later and do simple migration into new system?

I'll do it right when prompted during first start up.
If it's usb 3.0 it's fast... Maybe 2 hours or less

If the disk is USB 2 it will take a whole night.
I usually do it at installation and let the computer do its thing over night.

Be sure at do it during the system setup. If you create an account then try to run Migration Assistant later to import to the same account you will have a mess.

OK, on USB 2 it took 4.5 hrs.
